FEATURED CLIENTS

Grown With Time: Timber Press

Timber Press, a book publisher focused on gardening and horticulture, was founded in 1978, but it wasn't until a 2013 re-brand, that the company settled on the tone-of-voice for their brand, which would be unveiled to the world in the form of a new Corporate Video. Art Directed by Studio DiBella, the video "We Are Timber Press" confidently shared the new, confident-yet approachable brand with their customers.

Duotone Daydream: Left Coast Roast - Book Design

Left Coast Roast, A Guide to the Best Coffee and Roasters from San Francisco to Seattle had big publishing aspirations but a small production budget, which presented a unique design challenge, which we solved for by utilizing a cost-effective 2-color printing method. Taking inspiration from coffee culture and the plant itself, we chose a dark brown and a bright green as the two ink colors, rather than a traditional black and a bright spot color. The tints of brown mixed with tints of green allowed greater color variation to illustrate the many charts, infographics and illustrations throughout the book. Studio DiBella managed all content layout and coloring work while Art Directing illustrators Ryan Bush and Allison Berg on the visuals and typographic section openers, resulting in a final product that is engaging and evocative of West Coast Coffee Culture.

Template for Success: The Timber Press Vegetable Gardening Guide Regional Series - Book Design

The Vegetable Gardening Guide is a series of 7 regionally focused books written by authors around the country. An ambitious project that presented an interesting design challenge: These books would be written in different regions, different seasons, and with different subject focuses, however each needed to be aesthetically consistent to ensure proper brand alignment within the book series.

Studio DiBella Art Directed the design firm responsible for the template design, Bologna Sandwich, the scientific illustrator, Marjorie Leggit, and the spot illustrator, Julia Sadler. Their work, in addition to a cover template designed by our team, provides a friendly visual framework for the hard-working horticulture content within each book.
